Telling stories of the People, by the People, and for the People
The Book of Esther, A Joyful Reading!
During the 2011/2012 touring season, Tim is offering performances of his one-man show "The Book of Esther, A Joyful Reading!" to churches across the country. Presenting the entire text of the biblical story, Tim incorporates many elements of the traditional "Purim schpiel"-- masks, colorful costumes, comic voices, noise makers, klezmer music (click the above photo for a sample of klezmer music), and plenty of audience participation! This entertaining show gives church congregations a new perspective on the Book of Esther as they experience a reading of the story in the celebrational style of the Jewish synagogue. The show can stand alone or serve as part of mini-Bible conference that includes lectures on ancient Persia, the traditions of Purim, and a devotional from the key verse found in Esther 4:14 . . .
"For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?"
Tim also offers Storytelling Workshops for churches. Participants learn storytelling basics (story mapping, characterization, animation) and how to tell familiar Bible stories in creative and imaginative ways (costumes, props, puppets, story bags, string stories, illustrated stories).
